Cheviot Trees is one of Europe's largest and most experienced producers of cell grown plants.
Established for over 30 years, we produce millions of plants every year in the UK.
The quality of our cell crown trees is second to none, and their robustness and vigour enables plants to establish and survive strongly, even on the most difficult of planting sites.
OUR NURSERY
Our purpose built, state of the art nursery is a fully equipped commercial complex that has been designed specifically for the production of quality cell grown plants.
Plants are always strong and healthy due to their exposure to the bracing Scottish Borders climate.
In addition to plant production we are also a major distributor of planting accessories, including tree shelters, stakes, planting tools and much more - a true one stop shop!
OUR TEAM
Cheviot Trees is a family owned business with a highly experienced and knowledgeable team.
Having pioneered commercial Cell Grown tree production in the UK, our entrepreneurial drive and ethos keeps us at the forefront of the forest nursery sector.
We employ over 35 people throughout the business, and have specialist skills in horticulture, forestry, plant production, agronomy, administration, logistics and IT.

Our delivery network regularly supplies plants and materials to customers all over the UK.

Our plants are grown in accordance with British Standard 3936 & the HTA National Plant Specification.

PLANT HEALTH AND BIOSECURITY
As UK growers we are passionate about plant health and the biosecurity of our countryside.
Through active involvement in industry Trade Associations, we lobby and work with Governments and legislators to strengthen and uphold plant health measures, to ensure that both our Nursery and the countryside remains 'plant healthy' and biosecure.
We are registered producers of Forestry Reproductive Material and are authorised to issue Plant Passports. Our plants are fully traceable from seed to sale.
Our own 'in house' plant health measures exceed all mandatory requirements.
ENVIRONMENT AND INNOVATION
Cheviot Trees is a leader in environmental processes in business and has an extremely positive carbon footprint
Not least, by growing and supplying millions of trees per annum, we actively absorb and offset enormous amounts of carbon every year. Our customers do the same by planting millions of trees!
We procure materials from as locally as possible, with the vast majority being from within the UK.
We recycle all plastic waste, and of the plastic that we do use 50% is made from recycled material.
We reuse all wooden pallets and crates.
Our tree stakes are procured from FSC accredited sources.
Our haulier runs low carbon emission vehicles.
We have Biomass heating and solar panels.
Our plants are grown in a sustainably sourced peat free growing media.
We have significantly reduced pesticide usage in recent years by using biological pest controls (Integrated Pest Management) in our crop husbandry regime.
